A Course on "Turning a New Leaf" (2): Preparing for Negotiations

After the first day of dreary teaching, the teaching style had changed. From a dreadful classroom style teaching to role playing. Role-playing requires the participants to fully digest the details of the case and summarize the main points of the dispute. The atmosphere was somber. A lawyer even woke up to analyse case materials at 3am; as if he had returned to being a student.

Before the panel discussion, Lawyer Song emphasized the importance of information management. He pointed out that no matter whether the case needs to be settled through litigation or negotiation in the future, knowing more information is the key to the winning against the other party. This is decided when a lawyer is able to win the trust of the client with professionalism.

Subsequently, according to “lawyers of major shareholders” and “lawyers of minor shareholders”, the students were divided into two categories. They will need to write a survey analysis report and prepare a Powerpoint presentation to present to their clients. In the end, a simulation of the process of negotiating between a large shareholder lawyer and a minority shareholder lawyer will be held.
