On June 2, 2023, the second segment of the practical training course on Shareholder Dispute Litigation and Negotiation Strategies, hosted by the China Behavioral Law Association and led by our firm, commenced in Shanghai.

This three-day course focused on several real shareholder dispute cases handled by Shanghai Song & Gu Law Firm. Through interactive workshops and role-playing, the course provided a comprehensive overview of the entire process from client engagement to case resolution. The innovative format and rich content attracted lawyers and legal professionals from Shandong, Hebei, Shanghai, Anhui, Hubei, and Guizhou, creating an atmosphere of enthusiastic and lively discussions and negotiations.

During two rounds of negotiations, participants were divided into six groups, role-playing as clients and lawyers, majority shareholders, and minority shareholders. After Lawyer Gu vividly set the scene for the cases, the participants eagerly immersed themselves in their roles, discussing materials and information, and formulating negotiation strategies. Through simulated negotiations and debriefing sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the emotional dynamics in negotiations, the importance of empathy for different roles, and the meticulous handling of case details.

Over the three days, lawyers and legal professionals from across the country formed bonds and friendships through collaboration and competition in negotiations. Some participants spontaneously organized visits to our firm after the course for further exchanges. Lawyer Song and Lawyer Gu warmly welcomed everyone, and the camaraderie over drinks reflected a shared passion for the law and a commitment to professional excellence.

Although this segment of the course has concluded, we believe that our firm and our legal peers will continue to explore the complexities of shareholder disputes and corporate governance, striving to reach new heights and go even further in this field.
