On the afternoon of November 20, 2021, Lawyer Gu Liping was invited by the Shanghai Technology Innovation Center to deliver a lecture titled "Equity Structure Design for Startups—From the Perspective of Preventing and Controlling Shareholder Disputes" to entrepreneurs.
Lawyer Gu emphasized that preventing and controlling shareholder disputes is the "reverse engineering" of solving equity incentives, equity financing, and corporate governance. He analyzed the essence and core legal risks of equity incentives and equity financing.
Drawing on real cases handled by the firm, Lawyer Gu highlighted that improving information disclosure systems, decision-making rules, and exit mechanisms are crucial for preventing and controlling shareholder disputes. He concluded by outlining the design and operational key points of these three systems for the entrepreneurs.
The lecture attracted over 30 entrepreneurs, all of whom expressed that they gained valuable insights from the session.
